Calcium Imaging
Combining imaging with electrophysiology or other equipment:
Fluorescence is not the only means of obtaining information from cells. Fluorescence measurements using the TILL Imaging System can easily be combined with electrophysiology.
Changes in the membrane potential (due to the movement of ions through its channels or pores) may be measured using a patch clamp amplifier.
Using the TILL Imaging System combined with an electrophysiology setup allows to study both changes in [Ca]i due to release from internal stores and changes in [Ca]i due to ion flow across the membrane.
Calcium can also be released from caged compounds using UV light.
